If It Sounds Too Good To Be True, Then It Is (The Diet and Exercise Industry)

before and after

According to the CDC, more than 1/3 of all Americans over the age of 20 are overweight. Consumers are projected to spend 66 billion dollars in 2014 on diet products and memberships.

With that many people spending that much money, there is bound to some fraudulence associated with this market. 13% to be exact.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently fined Sensa Products, L’Occitane, HCG Direct and LeanSpa for defrauding their customers. These companies must refund $34 million to their swindled customers.

This means that they promised their product would help people to lose and control their weight, and it didn’t do it. This is because you are not going to find a miracle product that will cause you to lose weight and keep it off. Many products can assist with initial weight loss, but these products are generally bad for you, put undue stress on your body, and they don’t work. They might help you to initially lose some weight, but you will not be able to keep it off.

These products are what I call get thin quick schemes. They are just like get rich quick schemes. If they worked then everybody would be thin and rich.

How can you tell a get thin quick scheme that won’t work and only wants to separate you from your money, from a valid nutrition and exercise program that will guide and aid you in weight loss and help you to keep it off? There are many ways.

If it sounds too good to be true, then it is. This is very true when it comes to the weight loss and fitness industry.

If it took you 20 years to gain the weight, you are not going to lose it in two weeks and keep it off. Most people gain on average one to two pounds per year. Over 20 years that is an extra 10 to 20 pounds. It took time to gain the weight in the first place, it is going to take time to lose it.

Don’t fall for gimmicks and schemes that promise unrealistic, or too good to be true results. If you have never been ripped and lean, you aren’t going to get ripped and lean on a two week crash diet. The only thing that the two week crash diet will do is allow you to temporarily lose some water weight so that you can fit into an outfit for a specific event. But after the crash diet most people will gain all the weight back that they lost, and usually a little more.

If it sounds too good to be true, then it is.

Any weight loss program that promises results without exercise or hard work, you should be skeptical of. You can certainly lose weight just by watching what you eat. If you have never watched what you’ve eaten, and then start eating healthily, you will see a difference in your body. But that difference will be much larger if you couple it with exercise.

The way to lose weight is by burning more calories than you eat. The only way possible to burn calories is through exercise. Altering your diet, and eating healthy, will allow you to take in less calories. It will make sure that the calories you do eat are nutritious and will help the body, rather than hinder it.

You can’t burn calories by just sitting there. There are products that claim to speed up your metabolism so that you can burn calories as you sit. But these are very unsafe, and usually pretty ineffective. If you have a heart condition you should stay away from these types of stimulants and supplements.

Many people know that you have to exercise and eat healthy to lose weight. But many people either don’t want to do it and are looking for a miracle pill, or don’t know how to go about getting into exercise and getting into eating right.

If you are waiting for a miracle pill, or exercise in a bottle, it is not going to happen. Maybe in the future someone will come up with a way to exercise our bodies without us having to put forth any effort. But right now, there is nothing like that available. Products that are promising that you can lose weight and look great without exercise or eating right are only trying to sell you something, and are probably lying about their product to sucker you into buying it.

Maybe you are one of the people whose doctor told them they have to lose weight for health issues. In order to lose weight they are told to exercise. Most people don’t know how to get into exercise. Most people associate getting into shape with running. Running is hard on the body and is not necessary to lose weight. It is necessary to do some type of cardiovascular exercise to lose weight. But running is just one kind of cardiovascular exercise.

Running is a very high impact form of cardio. The higher the impact, the more damage it does to your body. The more damage done to your body and the more pain and injuries you will sustain. The more pain and injuries you sustain, the less you will be able to exercise.

That is why I recommend staying away from running for most people, and focusing on lower impact forms of aerobic exercise. The stationary bike, elliptical machine, outdoor bike, recumbent bike, stair master, rowing machine are all forms of low impact exercise. You will be able to do one, or more, of these exercises with little irritation to your body. If you have arthritis, these forms of cardio will be safe for you and easy on your body.

The best way to get into exercise is by going easy on yourself. Exercise is about consistency. Exercise smarter, not harder. It is not necessary to be super intense with your workout and pump hard iron in a gym for an hour a day, 5 days a week. If you know what you are doing, you can get a great, full body workout in the comfort of your own home in just 20 to 30 minutes. With only using a few sets of dumbbells.

If you try to go from not exercising at all in over a year or more, then you have to start out almost too easy. You are not going to get a good workout during the first few weeks of a new exercise routine. You will be getting used to the exercise and getting used to scheduling the workouts in. After you get used to the motion and comfortable and confident with it, then start increasing the intensity. If you start out too hard, you will only injure yourself and have to stop exercising because of that injury.

I put together the Pain Free Lifestyle program to lead people easily into exercise and provide a simple to follow guide to help people get into shape. It is designed for those of you who haven’t exercised in years, or are in pain, or overweight. It takes you step by step through getting into exercise and leading the way to get you into shape. It is a comprehensive exercise and nutrition program that is easy to follow and easy to incorporate into your life. If you thought that exercising and eating right is to complicated and difficult, then this program will do it for you.

The secret to losing weight, keeping the weight off, getting into shape, reducing pain, staying active, increasing energy, and looking good, is that there is no secret. All it takes is consistent exercise and consistent healthy eating. Anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something.

Exercising and eating right to feel better, reduce pain and get into shape, and being honest about what to expect, is the Pain Free Way.
